ELSA Amicus Essay Prize

ELSA Ireland and ELSA UK are delighted to announce the new edition of The ELSA Amicus Essay Prize.
The essay competition is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate law students in the UK and Ireland, as well as first-year trainee barristers and trainee solicitors who are currently enrolled on the appropriate legal training course.
Essays should be no longer than 1500 words and address the following topic: ‘Critically Analyse the Human Rights Elements of the Death Penalty in Relation to Mental Illness.'

After my first year, I participated in a Summer ELSA Law School on the topic of business law in Baku, Azerbaijan. My experience was exceptionally amazing for three main reasons. Firstly, I got the chance to explore the lively capital of Azerbaijan as sight-seeing was included in the weeklong course. A definite bonus was the fact that the Host Group that accompanied us was Azerbaijani so I also had the chance to visit local spots. Secondly, the School gave me an insight into a wholly new legal system and an opportunity to learn more about an array of different areas of business law. Consequently, this helped me navigate which practice areas I am interested in. Lastly, the people I met during my time in Baku made this experience a truly special one. I was able to meet a highly diverse group of law students and young lawyers who have similar interests to mine and make new friends!
